well i had my second ultrasound today. this one was at the perinatal center at the hospital, so we had to get directions at the information desk cos i get hopelessly lost in there. i had drank all the water beforehand, like last time, but i didn't have to peeeeeee as badly as i did at the last ultrasound. so it was less uncomfortable.

this ultrasound was a lot closer up, so we could see all kinds of detail that we didn't get to see on the last ultrasound... there were two ladies in there, one was the ultrasound technician and the other was like...in training.

so first and foremost they looked at the baby's kidneys. they were still a little dilated, but not like they were a month ago. and they were still in the quote-unquote "normal" range. so that's good. the lady explained to us that the kidney dilation is really common in boys. the reason for this is (guys, get ready to hurt vicariously)...that while a boy baby is in utero, sometimes his little penis gets kinked up. yes...kinked up. stuck. caught on somethin. and he can't, uh.....urinate. so the urine backs up in his kidneys and it causes them to enlarge a bit. eventually the baby changes positions...he gets unkinked...and then he goes. apparently he was kinked up when we saw him the last time. and he actually went to the bathroom while we were looking at him today, cos his kidneys were less dilated when we left than they were when we got there.

so all in all...he's just fine. they scheduled another ultrasound in six weeks just to check his kidneys again and make sure he's still alright. so that's good.

but like i said before...this ultrasound was much more close up and easier to see... and it literally just...blew me away. my allergies have been acting up a lot so my eyes were watering hella bad, it probably looked like i was bawling.

we got to see him moving his little fingers... and he was spreading his toes and then squeezing them together again...

we were looking at his face (which is...yeah...beautiful)... we could see his nose, and even his lips... and then the coolest thing happened...seriously the coolest...this part made me actually cry a little bit...cos i'm hormonally charged and over emotional...haha....

...he opened his eyes...

...he shut his eyes...

...he opened them again......then covered his face with his arms... good lord the cuteness...

...he opened his mouth a few times... which was also amazing to see...

and eventually, he stretched his legs up all the way over his head (i'll post the picture later...it's hilarious), put his hands behind his head, and went to sleep. just sawing logs while we were looking at him.

he's in a breech position at the moment...totally butt-down. so when he stretched out like that his feet were in the left side of my ribcage and his hands were in the right side. lots of pressure when i stand up from his butt being down there....haha. dave was freaked out that he's in breech position but dude.....he's still got three months to turn.....it's nothing to worry about.

he's just fine... which is a relief...

i wonder how my nasty sugar test results are... i go back to see the wizard on the 9th of december...

which is the day i broke up with chad... haha... strange that i remember that...

anywho........relief. and now sleep.

he's soooooooo.........sooooooooo.......beautiful. every time i see pictures of him i just wanna hold him... and touch his little fingers...

three more months, eh?...
