HOLY SNOWSTORM, BATMAN!!
it's crazy out there. granted, we haven't gotten nearly as much snow as the southern part of the state (yet), but it's still really hard to see anything but white. thankfully dave will be off work soon, i don't like him being there this late when the weather's like this.
as for myself, i got off work early for the second day in a row due to lack-o-work. finished the cr's around 6:30 and did stupid menial shit till a little after eight. die-cut the wallets and flagged a few remakes. i mostly cut wallets, though, which involves sitting in an extremely uncomfortable chair and causes much of the back pain. ah well, still got to leave early.
aaaaaaand no more work till 2005. weet. break = much needed.
no more nite shift after break, either....i'll be back on days when we get back. which is kinda gonna suck in a few ways but not in others. tyra's taking away my hour lunches, aargh!! back to a half hour. so of course i'll still take an hour for lunch, i'll just stay a half hour after every nite to make up for it. heheheh.
still not sure what's gonna happen with the layoff situation......and that is seriously pissing me off. see, the original plan was that i was going to take a layoff this year (i haven't had one in over two years), instead of taking maternity leave. there are a lot of reasons for this, mostly because if i'm laid off i can draw unemployment whereas if i'm on maternity leave i get squat. and if i take maternity leave, i only get six weeks off, whereas if i'm laid off i'm not locked into any set time to come back. i discussed this plot with my supervisor back in the summer, a month or so after i found out i'm pregnant, and she thought we could pull it off...considering my baby will be born during one of the slowest times of the year at work. so tyra hired Ms. T in july, giving me some time to get her trained and ready for me to take a layoff after the christmas break. Ms. T turned out to be one of the most annoying people on the entire planet, which i'm able to overlook to a point, but pair that with the fact that she's also a TOTAL FUCKING IDIOT and you get a lot of anger and frustration on my part. so Ms. T ended up taking the custodial position that came up last month. yeah. she's the fuckin' janitor now. which was fine with me cos daily i had to suppress the urge to stab her in the throat with my ink pen.
so okay....no more Ms. T. bring on the other candidates.
there's this other girl that we've been borrowing from data entry who's a really fast learner and who's not an annoying, butch, slow-typing, loudmouthed alcoholic like Ms. T. she knows how to do almost everything in our department and *gasp* she's really easy to get along with. plus she learns really fast. did i mention she learns fast? and retains what she's learned for longer than a week, unlike her now-janitorial predecessor? yeah.....and on top of all that----SHE LEARNS FAST.
holy crap....sign this girl up.
tyra had me start training her right after Ms. T. officially left our department. she's pretty much got it down now. cos she's awesome. she really likes working in our department (better than her home department, actually) and tyra was pretty sure everything was gonna be okay and that i'd get a layoff probably a couple of weeks after we get back from christmas break.
unnnnntil a couple of weeks ago, when management had to throw a big fucking wrench in the works.
aargh. aargh. .......and aargh again.
see, layoffs go in order. level tens get laid off first, then twenties if needed. i'm a twenty and so's this girl. but since this girl isn't technically in our department and is instead a borrowed employee from another department...................she has to be laid off first. even before our tens. ain't that a load of horseshit.
aargh......more later, dave's home and i haven't told him about all this yet...................waiting till after break
